Hi John, Ushahidi can be used for profit oriented projects - just depends on your idea and ability to execute.

Hello Ory,

Great work you are doing!

is Ushahidi only designed for crisis management projects or non profit projects? what about profit oriented projects?
I am thinking it can be used creatively for business purposes. i do not have programming skills to add more features. i am still looking for professional help to bring the idea to life.
keep up the good work!

Thanks for this post, Ory.

One of my continuing questions is whether the Ushahidi platform is actually an efficient medium for the communication of hate speech, propaganda, disinformation, etc., in the first place.

There are far more efficient ICTs and tactics (unfortunately) to spread language inciting violence. I'm not at this point convinced that the Ushahidi platform qualifies. This is because Ushahidi is not first and foremost a communication tool but a documentation tool and the difference is an important one with respect to efficiency of transmission.
