What if all the rumors were catalogued and sorted, but only visible to those working to resolve the issue, until the issue is resolved?

When the rumors are later reported along with the actual facts maybe that will serve to weaken the trust of rumors by exposing their source. "Look how we were fooled!"

Is there a way to simultaneously deliver real-time feed of actual facts which address the misunderstandings in impending rumors and serves the people by always remaining truthful and owning up immediately to any mistakes?

If everyone believes something is true, is it? The proof of rumor and religion share the same roots. To ignore rumor is as big a blunder as it is to ignore religion and culture.

I have a t-shirt that says, "Don't believe everything you think." That might be a good educational approach for the Carter Center. Backed up with the after the fact rumor map from Ushahidi, and the actual information, from investigation, what effect do you suppose that might have?
